Solid Modeler Boosts Sheet-Metal Design

April 27, 2006
Alibre Design 9.0 is parametric solid-modeling software that lets users test concepts and show different stages of operation in a single model, without designing and managing each variation in separate files.

Users can easily convert legacy 2D designs into intelligent 3D models, and share 2D drawings with AutoCAD users. V9.0 supports overlapping flanges, for designing sheet-metal enclosures with airtight edges. A pattern tool includes punch patterns commonly used in sheet-metal parts from turret punch presses for cooling, weight reduction, and attachment of fasteners and connectors.
