New Product: Tight-sealing Overmolds

Dec. 13, 2007
Ultramid Seal-Fit lets plastic overmolding form tighter seals around metal inserts, eliminating sealing methods involving silicone adhesives, hot melts, impregnation, or precoating the metal prior to overmolding.

In the first step, the metal insert is partially premolded with Seal-Fit, then conventionally overmolded with housing plastics such as polyamide Ultramid A3EG6 and polybutylene terephthalate Ultradur B4300 G6. Metal parts overmolded with Seal-Fit are sealed against water, oil, and gas and can serve in mechatronic components such as automotive transmission and brake controls, sensors, and plug-in connectors.
