New Products: Rotary Touchless Sensor

Nov. 22, 2008
Features include a 360° programmable electrical range, 12-bit resolution, independent linearity to less than ±0.3%, and an unlimited mechanical lifetime. The sensor is IP67 sealed against dust, dirt and moisture and is available with either fixed-PCB pins or lead wires.

The RFC 4000 Series rotary touchless sensor uses a magnetic field to determine measurement angle, making it suitable for applications requiring flexible mounting or transmissive measurements through air or nonmagnetic materials. The unit’s two-part design consists of the sensor and a magnetic position marker. The sensor mounts on a rotary shaft a distance away from the component it is sensing, and an integrated circuit captures the magnetic-field orientation. An analog output signal represents the calculated angle and is repeatable to ± 1 LSB.
