Compact EC-powermax 22 motors produce high torque at slow speeds compared to other similar-sized brushless-dc motors. The 22-mmdiameter motor puts out from 90 to 120 W and is available in two lengths. It can be combined with 32-mm planetary gearheads. The rotor comprises two or four-pole-pairs. Electronic commutation is via Hall sensors. The EC powermax 22 also has no detent because of the grooveless stator, giving control qualities which are particularly beneficial for positioning operations. Typical applications are in medical technology or handheld tools such as slicing and drilling machines.
