EcoPaXX is a green, bio-based, high-performance engineering plastic with excellent mechanical properties. It is based on polyamide 410, a long-chain polyamide with properties such as low moisture absorption, high melting point, and high crystallization rate.Approximately 70% of EcoPaXX consists of building blocks derived from castor oil, a renewable resource. The plastic is said to be 100% carbon neutral, i.e., the CO2 generated during its production is fully compensated by the amount of CO2 absorbed by castor beans as they grow.EcoPaXX has a high melting point of about 250°C and a high rate of crystallization. Additional benefits include low-moisture absorption and good chemical and hydrolysis resistance, making it suitable for automotive and electrical markets.DSM Engineering Plastics, 2267 West Mill Rd., Evansville, IN 47732, (812) 435-7500, www.dsm.com
