Split-ring/epoxy mounting kit - Electro Static Technology

Sept. 9, 2010
The split-ring Aegis bearing protection ring kit with conductive epoxy mounting allows fast and easy field installation without detaching coupled equipment.

The split-ring Aegis bearing protection ring kit with conductive epoxy mounting allows fast and easy field installation without detaching coupled equipment. The kit offers protects ac-motor bearings from electrical damage by providing a path of least resistance and safely channeling VFD-induced bearing currents to ground. The unit’s 360° circumferential inner ring of conductive microfibers permanently secures in place with an Aegis FiberLock channel, which prevents the microfiber brushes from loosening, falling out, or breaking.

The kit also contains silver-filled conductive epoxy. After paint is removed from the installation area of the motor end bell, users mix the epoxy, apply it to the back side of the ring, center the ring halves around the motor shaft, and hold them in place to let the adhesive set. The entire procedure takes about 10 min. Unlike conventional shaft-grounding brushes, the maintenance-free ring lasts for the life of the motor. It works with virtually no friction or wear, regardless of motor rpm, and is unaffected by dirt, grease, and other contaminants.
