If your company has been thinking about training to its engineers and other employees, The Motor and Motion Association (SMMA), S. Dartmouth, Mass., may be able to help. The SMMA Motor and Motion College offers design and application courses involving motors and drives, such as Advanced Motor Design and Basics of Motion Control, among many others. Courses are customized for in-house presentation; SMMA staff, along with Motor and Motion College instructors, bases content on educational objectives, as well as the knowledge and experience of attendees. Cost is based on instructor travel and number of course days, with SMMA member companies receiving a discount. In some states, training grants are available. Course certificates indicating earned CEUs or PDUs are available upon request. Motor and Motion College courses are also scheduled prior to each SMMA Conference, including the SMMA 2011 Spring Management Conference, to be held May 10 to 12 in San Diego. For information on customized training, contact Bill Chambers at (508) 979-5935. For information on SMMA conferences, visit smma.org.
