Vacon earns environmental award

Vacon Inc., a manufacturer of ac drives, was recently awarded the Environmental Sustainability Award of Wilson College and the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce for efforts at its North American headquarters in Chambersburg, Pa. The manufacturing facility was completed in 2009 and in 2010 received LEED Gold Certification. The project has resulted in 18% less energy use, 44% less water use, and 96 tons of construction waste diverted from landfills.

Minarik acquires Automation Technology

Kaman Industrial Technologies Corp., Windsor, Conn., announces that its subsidiary, Minarik Corp., a motion control distributor, has acquired the assets of Automation Technology Inc. with locations in Boise, Idaho and Salt Lake City. Automation Technology is a motion control distributor in the Intermountain and Pacific Northwest regions. The companies will retain their separate identities and trade names.

Olflex cable drum rolls around globe

Lapp Group, Florham Park, N.J., is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its signature cable brand, OLFLEX, by jet-setting an OLFLEX cable drum to landmark locations around the globe. The drum has already traveled to France, Spain, India, South Africa, China, Chile, and the U.S. to mark festivities at different Lapp facilities — and has been signed by more than 2,500 people. Kaydon Corp. acquires HAHN-Gasfedern

Kaydon Corp., Ann Arbor, Mich., has purchased all outstanding shares of HAHN-Gasfedern GmbH, Aichwald, Germany, for approximately $37.7 million. HAHN manufacturers gas springs, tension springs, and dampers for diverse industrial markets. HAHN will operate within Kaydon's Velocity Control Products segment together with ACE Controls Inc., which was acquired in 2001. For more information, visit kaydon.com.

Marsh Bellofram acquires ServoTek

The Marsh Bellofram Group of Companies has acquired ServoTek Products Company Inc. (ServoTek) of Hawthorne, N.J. ServoTek manufacturing has been moved to Marsh Bellofram's corporate headquarters in Newell, W. Va.
