ISA, an automation standards association based in Research Triangle Park, N.C., recently released Foundation Fieldbus, 3rd Edition by Ian Verhappen and Augusto Pereira. The book's authors, control system engineers with experience in Foundation Fieldbus installation, collaborated to provide a reference on H1 protocol life cycles, design considerations, installation tips, and commissioning. They also supply valuable operations and maintenance tips for both design and control system engineers.

The new volume includes expanded knowledge on network design by covering power distribution and power supply requirements. It also features rules for cabling length, documentation requirements, a commissioning checklist, topology diagrams, system sizing formulas, and tips for integrating with other systems.
