As part of this year's International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), a day has been planned to inspire attendees with sessions on manufacturing innovation. IMTS is the biggest and longest running manufacturing technology trade show in the U.S. and is held every other year at McCormick Place in Chicago; IMTS 2010 will run September 13 to 18. The mammoth technology show is owned and managed by AMT, The Association For Manufacturing Technology.

For its inaugural Industry Inspiration Day, experts from the aerospace, medical, automotive, and energy industries will present a keynote program on recent advances in manufacturing technologies. A roundtable panel discussion will conclude the luncheon keynote program and will be held from noon to 3 p.m. in the Industry and Technology Conference area of the McCormick Place West building.

Representing the aerospace industry is Allan McArtor, chairman of Airbus Americas Inc. Rene van de Zande, president and CEO of the Emergo Group, consultants in international medical device registrations, will cover the medical device and in vitro medical device industries. Leading the discussion for the automotive sector is Jim Tetreault, vice president of North American Manufacturing for Ford Motor Company. Energy policy expert and CEO of the American Wind Energy Association, Denise Bode, will complete the panel. IMTS attendees registered for a conference session will be admitted to the luncheon program. Exhibiting company representatives with reservations will also be eligible to attend.

An all-new IMTS Industry & Technology Conference, which runs September 14 to 17, will focus on five topic tracks featuring industry-specific sessions including materials engineering, machining technology and trends, alternative manufacturing processes (such as waterjet and laser technology), metrology, and plant operations.
