New product: Black oxide coating

Jan. 4, 2010
Microlok AO coating aids in corrosion resistance without hazardous byproducts.

The Microlok AO process forms a silver/black, 1.5-micron-thick, non-toxic, aluminum-oxide conversion coating that adheres tightly to metal surfaces. When sealed with a rust preventive, the finish provides better corrosion protection than cold blackening.
The process does not use EPA-regulated chemicals and does not generate hazardous waste. The finish, including rust preventative, can be applied in 15 min at 120-140°F. It is stable up to 1,400°F and protects surfaces from galling.
New tank lines and conversion kits for existing cold-blackening lines from small-scale, manually operated lines to large-volume, CNC-operated systems are also available.
