Ball Rails Beat Corrosion

Sept. 2, 2004
Corrosion-resistant ball-rail systems target difficult environmental conditions, particularly those involving aqueous media, dilute acids and alkalis, or salt solutions.

In one version, called Resist CR, the guide rails and runner block bodies are protected by a thin, hard-chrome layer. Besides being corrosion resistant, these products resist abrasion and wear. The Resist-NR version offers runner block bodies made from X39 steel. A third type, the Resist NR II, features corrosion-resistant material throughout the entire runner block, including balls and running tracks, for maximum protection against corrosive agents. Resist NR II offers 65% of the load capacity of the standard runner block and rail. A rail made from X50 steel is also available under the same name. Typical applications are in clean rooms and in PCB manufacture in general, as well as in the pharmaceutical and food industries.
