The motto “Perfection in Automation” has provided the foundation for B&R Industrial Automation, headquartered in Austria, since the company was founded in 1979. Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, B&R employs 1,700 people worldwide and has more than 155 sales offices in over 60 countries. B&R USA, Roswell, Ga., was established in 1987 and has a network of more than 20 offices across the country.

In 1980, both the highly specialized Unicount counter series and freely programmable Unicontroller PLC were ranked among the most progressive automation products of the time. Later, B&R decided to produce PCs (1993) and advocate new communications network Powerlink (2001). “At the same time, many of our innovations were also accompanied by comprehensive software solutions,” says B&R managing director Hans Wimmer.
