Controller Replaces Safety Relays

Nov. 3, 2005
Preventa XPSMC safety controllers can perform the functions of up to 20 different safety relays and provide real-time status and diagnostics of machine-control systems.

The safety controller has a library of certified safety functions for applications that must conform to Category 4 of standard EN 954-1. Other features include user-friendly configuration software which lets users develop safety applications by configuring the predefined and certified safety functions built into the controller. Detailed diagnostics provide an in-depth overview of the status of inputs and outputs and identify any faults and their causes. These diagnostics can be viewed by a PC connected to the controller, or through a PLC, or an HMI. The controllers can also be connected to standard PLCs for diagnostics and other information-gathering applications. The controller has all safety functions built in, resulting in the need to carry fewer individual safety relays. It is available with either 16 or 32 inputs.
