Lightweight, Wear-Resistant Cables Sheaves

March 9, 2006
Cable sheaves made from wear-resistant, monocast nylon protect umbilicals for launch and recovery applications and cable tethers for deploying submersibles or offshore exploration and production.

The sheaves are one-seventh the weight of their steel counterparts. This increases stability and lifting power for cranes and hoists. The sheaves resist corrosion and let the steel cables they house last up to five times longer.
