Miniature dynamic pressure sensors

March 22, 2007
Series 105 is a new family of miniature pressure sensors for monitoring dynamic combustion pressure in diesel and natural-gas engines and other reciprocating equipment, which can extend maintenance intervals, improve fuel efficiency, and lower NOx emissions.

The products feature piezoelectric-sensing elements with fast response times, and are suited for continuous monitoring or periodic walk-around cylinder balancing. With no moving parts and solid-state construction, durability reportedly exceeds that of any other type of pressure sensor. Frequency response maybe tailored for low or high-speed engines. Ratings are to 4,000 psi and 570°F. The sensors are repackaged in stainless-steel housings and feature a 4.2-mm diaphragm and M5 thread, with rugged cables, integral charge amplifiers, and connectors. Intrinsically safe versions are also available for explosive-gas atmospheres.
