Plugging into fieldbus networks

June 20, 2002
There might be only one global communication standard in the industrial marketplace, IEC61158, but it consist of nine noncompatible network standards, all with their own benefits and features.

To take full advantage of those different networks and resolve connectivity issues, the Anybus Communicator from HMS, Chicago, lets system designers hook any device with a serial interface into any fieldbus network.

The Communicator uses a Windows-based configurator for ease-of-use and supports Profibus, DeviceNet, Ethernet, EtherNet/IP, LonWorks, CANopen and Modbus. The DIN-rail mountable device has its own built-in 24-Vdc power supply and is flash upgradable. It is fieldbus certified and UL approved.
