Software Handles Enormous Assemblies

July 12, 2007
Solid Edge V20 2D/3D CAD software improves on features for plant-equipment design and shop-floor layout.

For example, new assembly zones make it easier to design massive assemblies such as heavy industrial vehicles and large mechanical machines, some with 50,000 parts. The software works with the company's PLM application and a new Service Oriented Architecture that improves access to the central database from remote locations by way of wide-area networks. An Auto-constrain in Assembly feature adds parametric intelligence to imported data regardless of origin or translation method.
