Power electronics technology has reduced the cost and size and improved the performance of variable-frequency drives (VFDs) to the point where VFDs are now an industry staple. Industry prefers VFDs to fixed speed motors as they allow instantaneous motor speed change—providing increased process control plus operational and capital cost savings. VFD systems are often subject to harsh operating environments characterized by high voltage spikes, high noise levels and adverse environmental conditions. Choosing the right VRD cables mitigates these factors and protects plant assets.
