‘Thin Is In’ for Data and Transmission Cables

Jan. 14, 2015
Cicoil releases a flexible and durable new design for data and transmission cables. The thin profile optimizes packing capabilities.

Cicoil has developed a new, thin-profile, and durable design for its data and video transmission cables. The flat shape improves packing efficiency while maintaining consistent electrical characteristics, premium current-carrying capacity, and strength in continuous motion and cyclic bending.

For its Flex-Sil and halogen-free coated cables, Cicoil uses a patented, computer-controlled extrusion technology to perfectly align cables on a flat surface, creating a planar profile that is encased with the silicone coating. The extrusion process ensures that the coating is applied homogenously and that the internal cables are evenly spaced so as to promote optimum current flow without wear between adjacent cables or ineffective EMI/RFI suppression. The extrusion process is consistently checked with strict quality and inspection controls throughout production.

The highly flexible silicone casing is protective in harsh environments where cables may experience shock, extreme temperatures, and vibrations.

Cicoil offers the new design in a range of products including Category 5e, Category 6, Dual Shielded Camera Link, Controlled Impedance, USB 2.0 & 3.0, Flexible Coax (50 ohm and 75 ohm), and Fire Wire Cables. Cicoil accepts special requests for custom designs and offers features such as anti-friction coatings, custom shape, and torsion designs. All cables demonstrate high flexibility with high resistance to fatigue over long periods of cyclic bending.
