Digital Transformation Now!

The Control System Integrators Association (CSIA) is offering a fresh look at the concept of digital transformation. Perhaps a better way to put it—their March 17 video presentation will look past the concept toward implementation.

“Accelerating the Evolution From Industry 3.0 to Industry 4.0 – A Vision for Smart Manufacturing 2030” will be presented March 17 starting at 10 a.m. Registration is now open. Presenting on the topic is longtime industry expert John Dyck. He is CEO of the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute, but also well-known as an expert on business and technology in the IT and operations space. He previously was global director of software business development for Rockwell Automation.

CSIA and Machine Design are partners in promoting the CSIA Exchange, a portal that matches manufacturers with specified integrators and provides a portal for automation knowledge.

A Focus on Motor Efficiency

Squeezing efficiency from a motor isn’t that simple. A new Machine Design e-book, sponsored by Altech, demonstrates there are a wide variety of strategies and technologies that, when consistently applied, can make not just the motor but the entire motion system an efficient and dynamic source of power and precision. A fresh look at motor efficiency can uncover some operational and financial opportunities. It can point the way to a greater appreciation of a motor’s value, and a new way to calculate that value.
