Case Study: Tungsten Electrode for Precision Surgery
Oct. 4, 2017
The overall success of this component is due in no small part to metal injection molding (MIM). The tungsten electrode is used in a surgical ablation device that uses high temperature for tissue removal. The use of tungsten enables the electrode to reach the most effective operating temperature with efficiency and maintain that temperature longer than other alloys. Manufacturing this component with MIM in place of using a machining/removal process drastically reduced overall component costs.
