Optically clear adhesives

Loctite Liquid Optically Clear Adhesives (LOCA) increase display durability, extend product life, reduce power consumption, and permit thinner device designs.

Loctite Liquid Optically Clear Adhesives (LOCA) increase display durability, extend product life, reduce power consumption, and permit thinner device designs. Dual-cure technologies provide full cure in shadowed areas, as well as reduced shrinkage that controls display distortion and eliminates mura.

When used on AR glass, the adhesives increase contrast ratio in sunlight by 400% and minimize the refractive index mismatch to glass and PMMA, minimizing light loss due to reflection.

Seven products make up the LOCA line, including two dual-cure adhesives designed to cure in shadowed areas where light cannot reach. Loctite 5192T is a high-temperature-resistant, nonyellowing UV/moisture cure silicone that is dimensionally stable, minimizing stress to LCD surfaces, and reducing mura defects. Loctite 3192T is a general-purpose UV/heat cure acrylic with a refractive index for excellent brightness, clarity, and color. It heat cures in just 1 min at 80°C.

Designed for TP1 (touch panel to cover lens) and TP2 (cover lens to LCD) bonding, general-purpose Loctite 3196T is an impact-absorbent UV acrylic that protects the display surface from damage and can replace the air gap designed into TP2 applications. UV-cure Loctite 3193T delivers high adhesion to plastic, while general-purpose Loctite 3195T is for TP1 glass-to-glass bonding. Loctite 3195DMT is a high-viscosity dam material compatible with most UV acrylic LOCAs. Loctite 5192DMT is a high-viscosity silicone dam material for use with Loctite 5192T UV/moisture-cure silicone.

LOCAs provide better adhesion and reliability than optically clear double-sided tapes, are more suitable to large panel assembly, and better for gap filling.
