A Batmobile replica could be yours -- for a mere $120,000

Batman afficionados may recall that the original Batmobile for the 1989 film with Michael Keaton was built on a Chevrolet Impala chassis with a Chevy V8.

Now, what is being called an extremely well conceived tribute to the 1989 Michael Keaton Batmobile is going up for auction in the UK. It was made for promotional purposes and, though it has been displayed at many venues, is said to have a pretty low mileage reading. No jet engine in this version, however, nor Browning submachine guns. It is powered by a straight six, fuel injected modern Jaguar 3.2 L engine with automatic transmission. Special crime fighting gadgets include a fully operational flame thrower at the rear, hydraulic suspension enabling the car to be lifted a further nine inches off the ground, a smoke release mechanism, remote full releasing electronic canopy, remote ignition and full LED running lights, dashboard display and front and rear camera's complete the specification.

Even better, it is road-legal. The auctioneers, Historics at Brooklands, estimate it will go for somewhere north of $120,000 when it goes on the block November 30.
