Want a nifty motivational tool to get your students excited about learning CAD/CAM and CNC machining? CNC Software Inc., the developer of Mastercam CAD/CAM software, announces the 2009 – 2010 Mastercam Innovator of the Future (IOF) national competition. It aims to entice students with the real-world manufacturing challange of designing and machining a NASCAR-style gear shift lever and knob. The judges are from NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team Stewart-Haas Racing and include Tony Stewart, owner and driver of car #14, Ryan Newman, driver of car #39, and CNC shop manager Brad Harris. They will select the winner based on aesthetics, innovation and creativity, and quality of machining finish. The winner gets a scholarship as well as a trip to the celebrity judges' headquarters.
