This is pretty cool if you can get past the Top-Gun-style/electric rock background music. Sandia's 12 DOF mechanical hand will be had for a relatively inexpensive $10,000 when it goes into production. Other hands with similar capabilities have been running in the $250,000 range. The target application is bomb disposal, but Sandia hopes the low price will let the device manipulate its way into numerous other uses.
