Dryerless PET extrusion system - PTI

Sept. 2, 2011
The system uses high vacuum and twin screws to eliminate drying and cyrstalization.

The high-vacuum twin-screw, production-scale, sheet extruder processes over 2,000 lb/hr of post-consumer and industrial PET/PLA. The energy-efficient system processes PET without drying or crystalizing the raw material. A single atmospheric, dual high-vacuum vent system with a co-rotating twin-screw extruder removes moisture and other volatiles as part of the extrusion process. Energy savings from the elimination of drying and crystallization can approach 30-35%.
