Copley Controls’ Nano Servo Drive for Operation Over Wide Voltage Battery Range

Feb. 25, 2025
Copley Controls’ Dean Crumlish demonstrates the Nano Series digital servo drives, which offer a small footprint for the flexibility to mount directly on the motor or within robot joints.

At the MD&M West Show, which was held Feb. 4-7 in Anaheim, Calif., Dean Crumlish, senior applications engineer and product manager for Copley Controls, showed Machine Design the company’s cutting-edge high-power nano drive.

Offering 100 amps RMS and 140 amps peak—up from the previous 35 amps—the device is suitable for driving large motors or improving design capabilities.

Key features include:

  • Compact and lightweight design
  • Advanced thermal management
  • High current 100 amps RMS continuous
  • REGEN output
  • High-power density 99% efficient.

Crumlish said the drive excels in environments that require high current and voltage, including advanced robotics, like those used in the medical field, to larger AGVs to brushless DC motors. He added that Copley also offers a range of modular designs tailored for OEMs to simplify integration and reduce costs. The drives support AC and DC power.
