Integrated drive for pumps

Feb. 8, 2014

Watson-Marlow Pumps Group is introducing DriveSure, a new panel-mount brushless-dc gearmotor with integrated speed controller. It features a series of gearboxes and mates to many of the company’s pump heads, providing flow ranges from 0.1 to 6,100 ml/min, depending on the configuration. The unit reportedly lets OEM engineers eliminate the design uncertainty and risks associated with specifying a pump-motor, gearbox and drive, separately.
DriveSure offers a 51:1 control ratio and a 408 to 8 rpm speed range. It comes in 24V and 48Vdc versions, and accepts standard analog control signals. The unit is designed to panel-mount with a variety of pump heads, including the 102R, 114, 313D, 501RL, and 520R Series.
The compact, lightweight, and well-balanced design reportedly offers high torque and quiet running, making it suited for life science and biopharmaceutical applications, including dental, endoscopy, and in-vitro diagnostics. The comprehensive control and flow rate capability also meets the requirements of bioreactors, bench-top cross-flow filtration, and chromatography equipment.
