June 5, 2008
The E+ electric bike from Electric Motion Systems, Dulles, Va., has 19 different cycling modes, cruise control, and regenerative braking.

The bike is powered by a 750-W hub-mounted brushless dc motor with a Texas Instruments 32-bit 28x digital signal processor. A 36-V 9 A-hr nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) battery pack provides a 20-mile range on a single charge and 40 miles with moderate pedaling. The E+ recharges by plugging into standard household current for 4 to 6 hr.
