Acquisition Expands Composite Line

Hanwha Living & Creative Corp. recently acquired Azdel Inc., Lynchburg, Va., a 50/50 joint venture of Sabic Innovative Plastics (formerly GE Plastics), Pittsfield, Mass., and PPG Industries, Pittsburgh.

The acquisition of Azdel’s high-performance thermoplastic composites will let Korea-based Hanwha expand its line of composite and advanced materials used in exterior and interior components of automobiles, heavy trucks, and recreational vehicles. Azdel also set up an arrangement where Sabic will supply thermoplastic resins and PPG will supply fiberglass-reinforcement materials.
