Maserati Corse, the racing arm of Italian car manufacturer Maserati, says it will continue to use CAD software from PTC, Needham, Mass., to manage the product life cycle of its racing cars.
Maserati Corse and PTC have partnered since 2003, when Maserati decided to rejoin the racing circuit. The PTC Product Development System, a combination of Pro/Engineer, Windchill, ProjectLink, and Windchill PDMLink, helps Maserati create race cars while controlling digital products throughout the life cycle of the vehicles.
"Thanks to Windchill, information collected over the course of the entire development process in design, production, testing, and even during the actual race can be accessed to make changes, which is a key to our racing success," says Claudio Berro, technical director of Maserati Corse.
Over the next three years, Pro/Engineer will help Maserati Corse develop race cars like the MC12. Furthermore, Windchill PDMLink will be handling content and process management. " Developing racing cars can be seen as a microcosm of the development process in the automotive industry," says Carsten Hochmuth, director of PTC partner programs.
