Watching tends in Google searches on motors

It looks like curiosity about dc motors (as measured by Google searches using that term), exceeded that for ac or brushless motors. Searches for dc motors, though, seem to be on a five-year slide. At the same time, interest in ac and brushless motors, both of which are more efficient than less-expensive brush-dc motors, has remained fairly constant over the last two-and-a-half years.

More on Google Trends

Google Trends (www.googletrends.com), a Web site from Google Labs, the people who developed the Google search engine and other Web-related technology, shows how many times over the last five years users have searched for a specific term relative to the total number of searches done on Google. It also reveals which countries and cities generated the most searches. Google says the algorithms used to mine the data from its data banks are still in the early stages of development, so there could be some inaccuracies from sampling errors and assumptions.
