Ball-return redesign

Sept. 6, 2012
The UltraSpeed line of precision ball screws features a new ball-return design that uses precision ball deflectors to guide the balls into a return channel spanning the whole nut length.

The UltraSpeed line of precision ball screws features a new ball-return design that uses precision ball deflectors to guide the balls into a return channel spanning the whole nut length. The precision-milled deflectors use a complex geometry that minimizes friction, thus allowing higher speeds with less wear and better smoothness.

The ball screws come in diameters from 32 to 100 mm, and allow speed ratings up to and beyond dN = 160,000. Advanced thread-grinding technology and lead-todiameter ratios from 0.5:1 to 1:1 permit linear velocities of 4,000 ipm at accelerations of 2 gs and higher.
