In January, Baldor Electric Co., Fort Smith, Ark., announced plans to reduce its environmental footprint, an effort aimed at both significantly reducing operating expenses and benefiting the environment. As part of its efforts, the company named Emily Kubala as Director of Resource Conversion Management. Kubala began working for Baldor in 2005 at the Gainesville, Ga. plant, where she was instrumental in leading and managing efforts to reduce and conserve natural resources. Over the next three years, Baldor plans to reduce the solid waste sent to landfills by 25%, cut electricity consumption by 20% and natural gas use by 5%, and decrease water consumption by 10%. Another goal, already underway, is to plant 5,000 trees on company property. For more information, visit www.baldor.com.
