Tiny drivers for big LCDs

April 12, 2007
Smart Force LED drivers from Endicott Research Group target high-bright LEDs in a wide range of LCD backlighting applications, with screen sizes from 6.4 to 20-in. diagonal.

ERG driver boards employ a dc-dc boost circuit that supplies voltage to a constant-current driver and LED rail. The compact-sized boards come standard with input voltages of 12, 24, or 48 Vdc, in single, dual, or three-channel versions. The LED driver board with 48-Vdc input measures just 34 × 60 mm. Highly efficient thermal management gets the heat out of LED rails and the display assembly for higher reliability. Standard features include separate enable/disable and PWM high-ratio dimming controls.
