Whale Cuts Product Development Timescales with Objet 3D Printing

German-based water pump and heating-system manufacturer, Whale, says the purchase of an Objet Connex multi-material 3D Printer has significantly boosted its business. The technology lets the company make accurate prototypes and perform real-world tests using watertight Digital Materials, helping the company bring its products to market faster.

“The range of available materials from rigid to rubber gives us an advantage in recreating production parts," says Whale Design Engineering Manager Richard Bovill. "The watertight material lets us perform tests that slash our product-development process by weeks or even months. And the technology also lets us produce rubber, over molded, and transparent models. This lets us recreate design faults and identify ways to improve our products in a cost effective and timely manner.”
