Using additive manufacturing in a production line can provide significant benefits.

Check out more of our 2022 Hanover Fair coverage.

The Siemens SimRod is an electric vehicle that leverages the latest additive manufacturing and other advanced production technologies. At the Hannover Fair, a model of the production line was used to demonstrate Siemens’ latest automation technology. The solutions shown included digital twins and additive fabrication as well as autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) and mobile robotics in the production line.

The SimRod e-car integrates the latest in product and manufacturing optimization across its entire life cycle. In the automotive sector, digital twins, the use of AGVs and additive manufacturing are transforming planning and manufacturing. IT and operational technology are converging in the real and digital worlds, enabling continuous improvement loops to meet efficiency, cost, safety and ecological requirements.
