3D XML Works On The Web And In Office Applications

3D XML, an open-standard, lightweight XML-based format, lets manufacturers, suppliers, and customers capture and share accurate and sophisticated 3D data.

With the 3D XML viewer, a CAD file such as this car assembly can be revised and embedded in the user's program of choice — here it's PowerPoint.

3D XML files can be dropped into Web sites, e-mails, PowerPoint presentations, and Word documents. Users download the free player, which delivers IE and Microsoft Office plugins, from They then open the document and click on the embedded image to activate the model. The technology compresses data, resulting in small file sizes.
