Angular-contact ball bearings

April 14, 2005
Design and material innovations create a new performance class for Explorer angular-contact ball bearings.

Available in single and double row, the bearings can be used in electric motors, pumps, compressors, air-handling equipment, and gearboxes, as well as in the packaging, food and beverage, medical, general manufacturing, and construction industries. The high-performance single-row unit can be universally matched in sets for proper clearance or preload, extended service life, and reduced inventory. Designs include ground transition raceways/shoulders that deliver high thrust-load capability and low contact and edge stresses. Modified polyamide/brass cage geometry promotes high-speed ratings and acceleration, lower heat generation, and reduced vibration and noise. The bearings are manufactured from low-oxygen-content steel that extends life and reduces fatigue failure by preventing formation of fatigue-causing oxide inclusions. A wide range of bore sizes and dimensions are available.
