Accu-gear helical gearboxes from Candy Controls, Niles, Ill. (www.candycontrols.com), provide up to 40 Nm of continuous torque, 120-Nm peak torque, and will accept input speed to 10,000 rpm.

To handle this power, the company uses crowned teeth leads for maximum contact and treats gears so that their core hardness is 30 HRc and tooth harnesses is 840 Hv. The gears are housed in a rugged nickel-treated enclosure and its design will fit most servomotors. 3:1 to 10:1 (single stage), and 3:1 to 200:1 (right efficient in the single-two-stage versions. Operating temperatures range from 10 to 90°C, and service life is 30,000 hr.
