Image sensor sees tiny matter

A new image sensor promises to help scientists working at the molecular level of matter while researching viruses, new drugs, and treatments for diseases.

The KAF-4320 image sensor from Kodak is designed for small and large-molecule X-ray crystallography.

The sensors hold 4.3 million pixels (2,08432,084) with an active image area of 50350 mm with quad outputs for full sensor readout times to two frames/sec. Pixels measure 24mm, have a 60% quantum efficiency at 550 nm, and have an 8m V/e amplifier gain.
