Where did the hinges go?

A new line of concealed hinges from Southco, Concordville, Pa., rotate about a virtual pivot point, letting doors open with no gap between the door and frame.

The hinges are completely concealed, leaving a clean outer panel and no attack points for vandals. Available in stainless steel and zinc-plated steel, the hinges are targeted at industrial machinery, mass-transit, off-highway, and recreational vehicles.


There are three styles, and each works on a variety of door sizes and configurations. The 180 free-swinging hinge works with vertical or horizontal applications. The 90 free-swinging hinge works horizontally or vertically, plus it comes with a built-in stop, eliminating the need to install door stays or additional hardware. And the door-stay style hinge works on horizontal lids that open from the bottom and need to stay open for two-handed access to the cabinet or desk's interior. This hinge does not need gas springs or a separate piece of hardware to hold the door open. All versions earned a UL94-HB flammability rating and can be installed using M5 or No. 10 hardware or by welding.
