RoHS-friendly light switch

June 7, 2006
The LP01 short-body pushbutton from NKK Switches

The LP01 short-body pushbutton from NKK Switches (www.nkkswitches.com), meets the RoHS Directive on hazardous materials and heat-resistant materials on contacts, so it can be connected using lead-free solder. The switch has a low profile, (0.55 in.), so it uses little behind-the-panel space. An arc barrier between movable contacts prevents crossover. A red, green, or amber LED that shines through the translucent white cap can be included. The cap has a smooth, slight concave surface, designed to fit a fingertip and prevents removal and tampering. The switch's electrical life is at least 50,000 operations, and its mechanical life exceeds 500,000 operations.
