The double-expanding locating pin from Block Workholding Inc., Mars, Pa., can be used to locate points or align holes at workshops doing metal or wood work for automotive, robotics, aviation, and most other manufacturing industry. Called Dexloc, the steel pins, hardened to between 50 and 55 Rockwell C, can also be used to find the true center of holes, and even compensate for slight out-of-roundness and oversized holes.

The pins are said to be easy to use. Separate locking screws expand the pin's top and bottom halves independently. Both screws are accessed through the top of the pin. When used to reposition or reassemble parts, the pins have a repeatable accuracy of 0.0005 in. Standard diameters range from 0.25 to 1 in., with lengths of 0.5 to 2 in. Custom-made pins can be manufactured to meet specific needs.
