June 3, 2011
The aluminum matrix materials come in tailored CTEs.

Heatwave metal-matrix composite (MMC) materials use an aluminum matrix with silicon-carbide or silicon-carbide-diamond reinforcement for high thermal conductivity and stable coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). The materials come in a range of tailored CTE values for thermal base plates and heat spreaders. They are lightweight, yet have high stiffness high strength. Their aluminum skin supports multiple plating options.
