Optical encoder

Sept. 13, 2007
The Series 62AG optical encoder consists of 100% hard-tooled parts and uses light-pipe technology for optical switching.

The device generates a 2-bit digital output that measures the magnitude and direction of the shaft or knob rotation. With the addition of an integrated pushbutton, the encoder can scroll through a list or menu to select desired functions. The encoder's optically coupled switching reportedly lets it surpass 1 million rotational cycles. The device is terminated with a 4-in. cable/connector assembly.
