foil facestocks and either rubber or acrylic-based pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backings. In sound and vibration damping, the viscoelastic PSAs serve as a damping component, absorbing vibrations and converting them to low-grade heat energy, then dissipating it. It also reduces stress fatigue in metal structures and lengthens service life. The tapes also act as vapor and moisture barriers, EMC shielding, and protect surfaces during etching, milling, and plating.
