New Product: Ball Valve

Oct. 11, 2007
The Type 546 large-diameter ball valve comes in sizes 2½, 3, and 4 in. in a choice of five materials: polypropylene, PVC, CPVC, ABS, and PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride).

A multifunction module lets users easily add different accessories, actuators, and switches. With the module, the new valves can be actuated with the PA Series of pneumatic actuators or EA31 electric actuators. An electric position feedback switch signals a controller to indicate valve position and transmits the information remotely, providing a means of control and safety monitoring. An EN ISO 5211 interface works with a variety of microswitches including Ag-Ni, Au as well as inductive switches with npn, pnp and Namur signals. A splashproof module housing is of 30% glass-reinforced polypropylene. The 546 Valve requires minimum torque for operation, allowing for smaller, less-expensive actuators.

Additional features include a lockable black or red handle that prevents unwanted manipulation while a ratchet mechanism permits settings in 5° increments for precise positioning; stainless-steel threaded inserts for easy mounting, a smooth ball surface that prevents deposit formations;ww and a special backing seal that ensures tight sealing, even against water hammer. The valve is rated for pressures to 232 psi in PVC and CPVC and 150 psi in ABS and PP. Ten sizes from 3/8 to 4 in. are available.
