The Class 1 (up to 100-m range) PearlBlue Bluetooth module has a transparent UART-to-Bluetooth interface bridge in master or slave mode. Command-based firmware over the Port Profile allows for worry-free point-to-point wireless communication. The PearlBlue connects the radio serial port to a physical UART for easy interfacing to any embedded microcontroller, PDA, or computer. The unit can act as a master or slave and implements a wireless RS-232 link between devices or as an RS-232-toBluetooth configurable dongle with advanced capabilities. Features of the PearlBlue include 14-dBm radio power at 24-GHz carrier frequency, 3.3-V power supply at 110-mA maximum; and a –40 to 70°C operating temperature.
